Wilfa is proud to be a certified environmental lighthouse. The Environmental Lighthouse (ELH) scheme is Norway’s leading eco-certification system and the first scheme in Europe to be recognised by the European Commission. The environmental lighthouse approval shows that we meet the environmental requirements for energy use, waste, transport, purchasing and the working environment set by the Environmental Lighthouse Foundation.
Wilfa, as a company, has a strong focus on the environment and on reducing our environmental impact. We have therefore developed our own management system where we measure our environmental impact. Wilfa has been an approved Lighthouse company since 2019 and will be certified according to ISO14001 environmental certification during 2020.
We have also invested in CO2 quotas since 2018 so that we are climate neutral on everything within passenger transport, shipping of goods, running our offices etc.
Many of Wilfa's products today use FSC approved cardboard and paper and our goal is that by 2020 we will have all the products transferred to this. FSC ensures that we use paper produced in a sustainable way. In many of the products, we have also removed Styrofoam and replaced it with more environmentally friendly alternatives. Efforts are also being made to replace harmful Polyethylene plastic packaging with more environmentally friendly and compostable plastics such as PLA and PHA.
In addition, we naturally follow both national and international requirements so that we do not have harmful and prohibited substances in our products and thus follow requirements as described in various directives such as ROHS, REACH, food contact directives, etc. Wilfa is also concerned with ethics and all employees and suppliers must follow our business ethics guidelines. You are welcome to review these guidelines here.
