Your Five-Year Wilfa Warranty: What's Covered and What Isn't

Most warranties are written to be difficult. This one isn't, and the detail that surprises people most is that there's nothing to fill in.

Every Wilfa product bought after 1 September 2020 carries a five-year warranty for private household use. You don't need to register anything — your receipt is the warranty certificate. The ProBaker Stand Mixer, Powerfuel XL Blender and Powerfuel Digital Blender carry an extended ten-year warranty on the motor.

What you get

Product / Condition Cover
All Wilfa products bought from 1 September 2020 5 years
Wilfa products bought before that date 1 year, with some exceptions
ProBaker Stand Mixer — motor 10 years
Powerfuel XL Blender — motor 10 years
Powerfuel Digital Blender — motor 10 years
Registration required No

The cover applies across both the coffee and kitchen ranges, and it includes the product's parts.

Two things about the dates. The five years runs from the date you bought it, not the date it was made — so a machine that sat in a warehouse for a while doesn't cost you cover. And a handful of products already carried five years before September 2020, including the Uniform and Uniform+ grinders and the Precision Aluminium coffee maker; the warranty information page lists them individually.

Keep your receipt

This is the whole administrative burden. There's no online registration, no serial number to log, no account to create. The receipt is the warranty certificate, and without proof of purchase there's no way to establish when the five years started.

Photograph it. Email it to yourself. Five years is long enough for a paper till receipt to fade to nothing, and it's the single most common reason a valid claim becomes difficult.

What's covered

Manufacturing defects — faults in materials or workmanship that show up in normal household use. In practice, the things that come up:

  • A pump or motor that fails in normal use
  • Electronics that develop a fault — including the rapid, continuous blink on the Wilfa button, which signals an internal fault with no user repair
  • Heating elements that stop working
  • Components that fail without misuse

What isn't covered

Worth reading properly, because one of these catches people out far more than the others.

  • Commercial use: The warranty is for private households. Using a machine in an office, a café or a rental business voids it. This is not a technicality — commercial duty cycles are simply different.
  • Scale damage where descaling wasn't done as instructed: This is the one. A pump seized by years of untreated limescale is a maintenance failure, not a manufacturing defect, and it won't be covered.
  • Not following the instructions in the manual.
  • Modification or unauthorised repair. Including, for example, attempting to earth a grinder to cure static.
  • Normal wear and tear, and consumable parts — filters, batteries and similar.
  • Glass breakage and damage to release coatings.
  • Overloading the product — running a stand mixer beyond its dough capacity, for instance.
  • Incorrect voltage.

The descaling exclusion is worth taking seriously because it's so avoidable. Fifteen minutes every three months protects five years of cover, and our descaling guide covers exactly what to do.

How to make a claim

  1. Check it's actually a fault first. A machine that won't pump water needs descaling, not a claim. Our fault-finding guide separates the two in a few minutes.
  2. Find your proof of purchase. Receipt, order confirmation or invoice.
  3. Contact the retailer you bought it from. This is the correct first step, always — the retailer handles the claim. If you bought directly from Wilfa UK, contact Wilfa UK.
  4. If the retailer has closed down, contact Wilfa directly with your proof of purchase.

One thing to know in advance: if a retailer tells you they can't help because the product is several years old, the five-year period still stands for anything bought after 1 September 2020. The warranty runs from the purchase date regardless of how long ago that was, within the five years.

Products bought outside the UK should go back to the original retailer in the country of purchase — Wilfa UK handles UK purchases.

Repair before replacement

Not everything that goes wrong is a warranty matter, and not everything that isn't a warranty matter is fatal. A dropped carafe, a lost lid or a cracked filter basket is a spare part, usually between £11 and £75.

Wilfa lists replacement carafes, servers, water tanks, filter baskets, shower heads, grinder burrs and mixer bowls separately. Have a look at accessories and spare parts before assuming a machine is finished — there's more on this in replace the part, not the machine.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the Wilfa warranty?
Five years for all Wilfa-branded products bought on or after 1 September 2020, for private household use. Products bought before that date generally carry one year, though some — including the Uniform and Uniform+ grinders and the Precision Aluminium coffee maker — already carried five.

Do I need to register my Wilfa product for the warranty?
No. There's no registration process — your receipt is the warranty certificate. Keep it safe, and ideally photograph it, because five years is long enough for a printed receipt to fade.

What does the Wilfa warranty not cover?
Commercial use, misuse or negligence, not following the instructions, modification or unauthorised repair, incorrect voltage, normal wear and tear, consumable parts such as filters and batteries, glass breakage, damage to release coatings, overloading, and scale build-up where descaling hasn't been carried out as instructed.

How do I make a Wilfa warranty claim in the UK?
Contact the retailer you bought the product from, with your proof of purchase. If you bought directly from Wilfa UK, contact Wilfa UK. If the retailer has since closed, contact Wilfa directly with your receipt.

Which Wilfa products have a ten-year warranty?
The ProBaker Stand Mixer, the Powerfuel XL Blender and the Powerfuel Digital Blender carry an extended ten-year warranty on the motor, alongside the standard five-year product warranty.
